Research Scientist at MIT Media Lab

As a world-renown expert on robotics and society, Dr. Darling works as a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab and heads the ethics and society research team at the Boston Dynamics AI Institute. At MIT, she investigated social robotics and conducted experimental studies on human-robot interaction to explore the emotional connection between people and life-like machines. In her talk, Dr. Darling will consider how this fast-evolving technology will shape the future of academic and clinical nursing.

As the first registered nurse in a wheelchair in New York state, Andrea Dalzell embraces every opportunity to promote her belief that people with disabilities can live fulfilling lives. As the founder of the non-profit called The Seated Position, Ms. Dalzell continues her disability rights advocacy with a focus on educating entrepreneurs, health care professionals, and business executives on how they can overcome obstacles and become self-advocates. Hear her inspiring story and discover how you can be a motivator to and advocate for people with physical disabilities to pursue a healthy, active, and successful lifestyle.
