University of Maryland Honors Late Faculty Member with DAISY Award

At its graduation ceremony last month, the University of Maryland School of Nursing presented its first DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty posthumously to Dr. Debra L. Wiegand, former associate professor in the Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health, who passed away in November. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty honors those who inspire their students to remember that nursing is much more than tasks and technology. These faculty help ensure that the art as well as the science of nursing are brought to every patient experience. .

AACNencourages those schools wishing to formally recognize nurse educators to consider using The DAISY Award庐 for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. This award was created to honor nursing faculty who inspire their students to provide high quality, compassionate care. To date, more than 560 nurse educators have been recognized with this distinguished honor. .
